Delfino "Dale" Salas
Delfino Andrew “Dale” Salas, 89, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017, at the VA Medical Center in Cheyenne.

Dale was born November 30, 1927, a son of the late Toribio Salas and Delfinia Gallegos Salas. He was born on the Salas family ranch named Piedra Lumbre (aka “Fire Rock”) in San Miguel County, New Mexico.

Dale is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ramona; his children, Ernie (Alma), Louie, Eddie (Peggy), Frances Pacheco (Frank), Joanne Arias (Leonard), Andrew (Carolyn), Veronica Vigil (Ray), Jackie Salas (Marcus), Caroline Salas (Rick) and Eric Salas; his siblings, Pita Solis, Max Salas, Mary Martinez, Connie Griego and Tony Salas; 28 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Ted, Manuel and Charles Salas; sister, Gavenita; his daughter, Cindy Hehr; granddaughter, Christi Vigil; and great-grandson, Vince Jr.

Apart from his wife and children, Dale’s greatest memories in life were lived on the ranch as a young boy. He enjoyed working beside his father with the cattle and horses. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. His favorite past time was watching boxing. Dale was drafted in 1945 and served two years in the United States Army. He is a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Dale retired from the University of Wyoming AFIT Minute Man Program after 20 years of employment.

Dale is dearly missed by his wife and all of his family. Thank you for all your wisdom you shared with each and every one of us. You will be forever loved and your legacy will live on through all those whose lives you’ve touched.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home with a Vigil for the Deceased for follow at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
