Condolences

Condolence From: Donna Weaver
Condolence: I was so very sorry to read of Mr. Rundquist's passing. Though I hadn't seen him in over a year I still think of him with very fond memories.

I delivered Meals On Wheels for over 20 years, and was fortunate to have Mr. Rundquist added to my Tuesday last a few years ago. He was quite the conversationalist and we found many of the same interests, and shared stories of both of our families.

He was so very proud of his family, and told me all about his last road trip with his daughters to visit his son - in Montana? And all of his grandchildren - I believe one of his grandson's is a football coach with quite a winning record?? I told him that my son played OL for Augustana several years ago, so we found another topic to discuss! He was so proud of his great-grandson that was recently married, though he could't attend - he told me every detail! Each photo and card on his refrigerator was a story waiting to tell me about!

He also took pride in his yard and the fence that his neighbor helped construct..and his kitchen table was placed so he could enjoy the sunshine and the view of the beautiful flowers that his wife planted. And, the map on the hall wall pin pointed so many memories of where his life had taken him...

It was with great pride that he was comfortable to loan me a book about his childhood neighborhood so I could copy it and send the copy to the Daughters of the American Revolution library in Washington, D.C. The book has a dedication to Mr. Rundquist inside the front cover and forever will be able to be used as a reference book at the DAR Library.

I shall never forget Mr. Rundquist, and will forever cherish his memory.

God Bless.

Condolence: We are so sorry to hear that Stanley has now left this world. Our deepest condolences. We will always remember our trip to visit you and how well we were taken care of. We were so impressed with how much energy Stan and Dorothy had at that age, and happy that he kept on living a good life for several more years. He will be missed across the atlantic as well.
Lots of love,
Louise, Ingemar and Leena

Condolence: I am so sorry for the loss of your father and grandfather. I delivered Meals On Wheels to him on Fridays and loved hearing him play his harmonica. He always had a song for me and it made my week. He was inspirational. I loved his positivity and love for his family. He told me many stories and I loved when he would say, "I had a good life and a good wife". What a wonderful love story. He had such a wonderful time his last Christmas with his family in CO and said "And everyone likes each other!" He was in so much awe of his newest great-daughter. He is surely missed by many.

Condolence From: Rev. Bob Garrard
Condolence: Dear Anita, John and Janet, I am so sorry about your Dad. Over the years I knew him as a pastor, I enjoyed the stories he and Dorothy shared about their life together. They loved to tell about their travels and especially treasured their years in Warrensburg, MO. where the horses, chickens, ducks and pond were centerpieces. Stan took such good care of Dorothy in her later years. I remember how he would carefully convince Dorothy to eat. They had a remarkable love for each other and you, their family. Stan was one determined person in whatever he did. I was surprised at how resolute he was to come to church even though his body was weak. My wife Holly and I saw him in church not too long ago. He was a great example of the "Greatest Generation. In the hope of the resurrection may he and Dorothy be together telling others in heaven about their wonderful life on earth. May the peace of Christ be with you all. Rev. Bob Garrard

Condolence: I delivered Meals on Wheels to Mr. Rundquist and he was always so sweet. One day touched my heart because he was having a bad day but still asked if I would like to hear him play his harmonica and I said of course!! He played "You are My Sunshine" and it made me cry as I was having bad too. He loved to tell stories about his children and he was so very proud of you all.
I am very sorry for your loss, and even though I didn't know your dad well he seemed like such a nice, kind man.

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear about Stan's passing. My thoughts & prayers are with you all. I worked at the Presbyterian church as a secretary where he had gone. He was a wonderful man & I loved hearing his stories. When he stopped going to the church he would come to just visit with me & bring flowers from his garden. He was like a grandfather to me. He would tell me his Navy stories, is life where he grew up, the barn & house that he built & of course he would bring in pictures of some of the Doll Houses that he had built for his kids & grand kids toy boxes for his grandsons. They were so detailed & awesome to look at & he said he enjoyed building them & loved talking about his family. He was a very amazing & talented person. We also shared the same birthday. I know he will be missed by everyone he knew. I am so grateful that I was able to meet him & listen to his stories. God Bless to you all. Love Becky Allen

Condolence From: LaDonna and Bob Chalstrom
Condolence: Dear Anita and family of Stan,
We miss Stan here at Pt. Frontier. We were friends from the time he moved here. A breakfast partner almost every morning and a relationship with Bellingham experiences. His photo book of B. had a photo of the home I lived in during the 1930's. We should have known one another ... only lived 3 blocks apart. He will be remembered with love & a memory of his harmonica playing.
My husband and I shared his Swedish background as well. Peace be to all of you.
