Obituary for Richard "Dick" M. Moody

Richard "Dick" M. Moody
Richard M. “Dick” Moody, 81, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017, at the Davis Hospice Center.

Dick was born in Fremont, Nebraska, on January 10, 1936, to Claude and Anne Moody.

He moved to Omaha in 1948 and graduated from Omaha Technical High School in 1954. During high school, he was active in the Sea Scouts earning the Quarter Master Award (equivalent to Eagle Scout). After high school, he joined the United States Navy serving in Guam as a Seabee.

After being discharged from the Navy, he married the love of his life, Lois Eddy, on December 28, 1956, in Omaha and enjoyed a loving marriage for over 60 years. He was plant manager at Rapid Printing in Omaha and during that time, four children were born.

In 1973, Dick accepted the position of Pressroom Superintendent at the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle. Under Dick’s leadership at the newspaper, the commercial print shop was started and color pages came to the citizens of Cheyenne. In 1993, he was promoted to Production Director and became a member of the Executive Committee. He retired at the end of 1997.

Since retiring, Dick and Lois have spent the winters at the Tropic Star Resort in Pharr, Texas, and enjoyed their time with many friends. He loved photography, woodworking, reading, family and friends. He was an excellent photographer spending many years in the photo pit at Cheyenne Frontier Days. He has a photograph on display at the Cowboy Hall of Fame. He enjoyed teaching his children and many others his woodworking skills and turning expertise.

Lois and Dick have been Presbyterians since moving to Cheyenne, attending Highlands United Presbyterian Church for 40 years and then transferring to First Presbyterian Church in 2015.

Dick was preceded in death by his father in 1948 and mother in 1971. He is survived by his wife, Lois Moody; sons, Rick (Cathy) Moody, Scott Moody and Jim (Kim) Moody; daughter, Jean (Donald) Cole; grandsons, Noah Moody and Jerimiah Moody; and step-grandchildren, Cristy Cabrera, Eric Hankins and Bob Hankins.

A memory service will be celebrated on Friday, December 22, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the Schrader Reception Center.
