Christine Burnell, Evening/Weekend Secretary
Office Phone: (307) 634-1568

Chris is married and has three children and eight grandchildren who are the lights of her world.
She was born and raised in Iowa.  She came to Cheyenne in 1973 to visit relatives, fell in love with the city, and never left.   Her first job in Cheyenne was working as a delivery girl for Bunten Pharmacy.
Chris married in 1979 to an Air Force Sergeant, and in 1980, the Air Force moved her family to Hawaii for six months. That was really a nice six month honeymoon.
At  the end of the tour, her family was moved to Scott Air Force Base in Illinois where the third child was born in June 1982. On December 2, 1982, at 9:00 p.m. a tornado struck the little town we were living and took the life of her husband, George.  She lost everything.  With a six-month old baby, she went to live with her mother in Iowa for about four months.  Cheyenne had always been the city she wanted to live in so moved her family back and has lived in Cheyenne ever since.
Chris worked for the Army National Guard as an administrative assistant, and it was there that she met her current husband, Jim.  Since it was frowned upon for both she and her husband to work together, she resigned and went to work for the State of Wyoming in the Vital Records office.  She is completing 20 years in the same office, at the same desk, doing the job that she thoroughly enjoys.
