Barbara A. Thomasee, lovingly known as Barbie, “B,” and Bob, passed away on September 12, 2026, in Aurora, Colorado, from complications after surgery. She was born on January 27, 1965, in Cheyenne.

Barbara will be remembered as a kind, generous, and funny woman who was passionate about everything she did. She loved to talk with people and had a natural way of making anyone she met feel special and important. Family and friends were her world, and she made a lasting impression on so many through her warmth, her spirited nature, and the deep care she showed to others. She loved animals and babies, and there was not a baby or animal who did not seem to love her right back.

She graduated from East High School and later took classes at LCCC. Barbara devoted 36 years of service to WyDOT, where she worked in the Records Department and served as a supervisor. Her work reflected the same dedication and commitment that she brought to every part of her life. She was also active in ARMA, where she enjoyed many roles, including serving as president for a number of years, and she was involved in WTDEA for many years as well.

One of the greatest joys of Barbara’s life was her marriage to Tommy. She met the love of her life 42 years ago—she always said their first date was on September 7th, while he insisted it was the 10th—and together they built a loving marriage that lasted 38 years. Their life together was filled with shared adventures and treasured traditions. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and riding 4-wheelers with her husband and family members, and she took many trips around the country, always looking forward to the next one. Among her unforgettable adventures was swimming with sharks off the coast of Hawaii, a memory that reflected her bold spirit and sense of fun.

Barbara was proud to be a Lieske, and she cherished the time she spent with her parents, especially playing cards, going on vacations, and cooking and sharing meals together. She made the best rolls for holiday dinners and always brought a large array of desserts, helping make family gatherings even more special. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially during the holidays and special occasions, and those moments of togetherness meant everything to her. Though she and Tommy were unable to have children, they poured their love into their nieces and nephews and treated them as their own.

She also found joy in life’s simple comforts. She enjoyed watching every episode of The Golden Girls, Archie Bunker, and I Love Lucy, and her sense of humor and lively personality made her wonderful company. She could be spicy at times, was appointed as the trip-nazi by family members when it came to travel plans, and brought energy, laughter, and heart wherever she went.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Tommy Thomasee. She is also survived by her sisters, Deb Drobny, Mary Duran, Kathy Torres, and Tracy Lieske; her brother, Jim Lieske; her father-in-law, Joseph “Buddy Ray” Thomasee; and her fur-baby Willow "Willa Mae". She leaves behind a family circle that was central to her life, and the love she gave so freely will continue to be felt by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Lieske; her mother, Billye Lieske; her mother-in-law, Mary “Tina” Thomasee; stepmother-in-law Mary Faith Thomasee; her brother, Rick Lieske; her brothers-in-law, Ron Drobny and Marty Oxford; her sister-in-law, Ginger Clark; and her nieces, Jenniffer Lieske and Lundon Nicole Duran; and fur-babies Shwartz, Jenny, Millie, Madison, Sydney, Muffers, Chloe, Zoey, Patches, and Candy 

Barbara’s life was marked by devotion—to her husband, to her family, to her friends, and to the many people whose lives she touched through her kindness and conversation. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her big heart, her humor, her strength, and the joy she brought to every holiday table, every trip, and every gathering.
