Betty Riedl, 89, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away on Oct. 27, 2025 at Cottonwood Creek Memory Care. Betty was born June 30, 1936 in Laramie, Wyoming to Lane and Lucy Good. She graduated from Laramie H.S. in 1954 and then worked for the Laramie Schools as a secretary for the District Superintendent.

Betty married Gary Riedl on August 28, 1955 in Laramie before going with him as he entered his Air Force service. Finally settling in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1961, Betty worked as a secretary for two appraisal firms in Cheyenne. Following her retirement, she worked for several sessions as the secretary for the Wyoming Senate Education Committee. She was actively involved in the First United Methodist Church in Cheyenne. In particular, she spent countless hours volunteering with the United Methodist Women and contributing in many ways to the Frontier Days lunch activities.

She is survived by her three children, Carrie (David) Chapman, Ken (Debbie) Riedl, and Nancy (Paul) Searcey. Betty is also survived by eight grandchildren, Matt (Alicia) and Ryan (Brittany) Chapman; Chris (Jessica), Bryan (Marge), Anthony (Madison), and David Riedl, Kathy (Mac) Rogers; and Nathan (Emily) Searcey; and six great-grandchildren, William Chapman; Theodore and Madelyn Chapman; Hezekiah and Charlotte Riedl; and Grace Searcey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, one grandson, Adam Searcey, her parents and brother, Dale.

A family celebration of Betty’s life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in Betty Riedl’s name to the United Women of Faith, First United Methodist Church, 108 E. 18th Street, Cheyenne, WY 82001. The family greatly appreciates all the love and care given to Betty by Cottonwood Creek Memory Care and Caring Edge Hospice.
