Betty Capps Siltzer

Betty Jane Capps Siltzer, 90, left this world peacefully on the morning of September 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. She was born on April 1, 1936 in Goldsboro, North Carolina, the daughter of Roberta (Ballree) and Bennie Capps. She grew up in Goldsboro with 9 siblings where she developed a strong work ethic and a deep love of family. After graduating from Goldsboro High School she went on to pursue a distinguished career in nursing, which she dedicated herself to for the next 56 years. A loving wife to Clyde W. (Mack) Siltzer for 63 years, Betty was a pillar of strength and support for her family.

Together, she and Mack raised two sons, Randy and Jody, to whom she always offered her comfort, advice and a hearty laugh. Betty was most known for her compassion, dynamic personality and fantastical sense of humor. She cherished family gatherings and was an expert at preparing her favorite Southern dishes including collard greens, butter beans, cornbread and chicken pastry. She and Mack were equally ardent dog lovers, and they enjoyed many beloved pets during their long life together. Her most recent, Daisy, loyal Chihuahua, lived an extraordinarily comfortable existence. Betty's best friend and traveling companion, BJ (Betty Jane) Haselman, is considered part of the family and will always be appreciated for her caring dedication and comfort that she so freely gave.

Betty is survived by sons Randy (Kathy) and Jody (Tina), and grandchildren, Julia, Evan, Kate and Colby. She was preceded in death by her siblings, husband Mack and grandchildren Cale and Rachel.

A funeral service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 7 at Schrader, Aragon & Jacoby Funeral Home with Theresa Odhiambo officiating. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects with a reception to follow on site immediately after the service. Final inurnment will take place at Beth El Cemetery.
