Birdie Ruth (Head) Schoening of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away on September 1, 2026.

She was born on November 15, 1940 in Red Level, Alabama. She was the youngest of seven children and lived in Montgomery, Alabama for most of her childhood. 

She married Donald James Schoening on June 17, 1960 and moved to Omaha, Nebraska where they raised their our children. In 1977, they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and in 1982 they moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming with the VA Hospital where Don worked. 

Birdie was a loving wife and mother. She loved God and loved her church where she was very active in the Sunday School department. She was the church administrative assistant. 

She loved planning and hosting all kinds of church events. She enjoyed serving God through visiting people in their homes and the hospital and preparing and providing meals. She made many lasting bonds with friends this way. People could always count on her to get things done. 

She enjoyed vacations with family and friends. She made many memories with her grandchildren during their summer visits and had lots of good times camping and snowmobiling with friends

Birdie is survived by her four children, Mary (Gerald) Gardner, Donna (Douglas) Wolfe, Karen Mattison and Paul (Ambika) Schoening, twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Schoening, her parents, John and Mary Head, her three brothers and three sisters. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on September 26th at 11am at Calvary Chapel Cheyenne, located at 9209 Ridge Road, Cheyenne, Wyoming.
