A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, August 5, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Serenity Garden Columbarium located West of Olivet Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Mastin officating. Cremation will take place at Schrader’s Sunset Park Crematory. Mrs. Burdie (Cantrell) Lyon, 70, of Chugwater, Wyoming, passed away early Monday morning, August 2, 2010, at the Life Care Center of Cheyenne. Burdie was born December 20, 1939, in Miller, Nebraska, a daughter of Franklin and Agnes (Epp) Cantrell. Burdie was a homemaker and she enjoyed spending time with and raising her children and grandchildren. Her other interests included working as a waitress at the Airport Restaurant and the El Matador Restaurant in Dodge City, Kansas, and the Hatched Egg in Cheyenne. She enjoyed painting still life pictures, collecting dolls and coins, and watching birds. Burdie is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Richard Lyon, Sr. of Chugwater; two sons, Richard Lyon, Jr. of Cheyenne, and Robert Lyon, Sr. of Chugwater; a daughter, Christina Talkington of Hillsdale, WY; a brother, John Daniel Cantrell of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a half-sister. Expressions of sympathy in Burdie’s memory may be made to the VFW Post #1881, 2816 East 7th Street, Cheyenne, WY 82001.
