Carl Watson (Watty) Huffman age 83, passed from this life on July 12, 2025 in Cheyenne, WY. Carl was born on February 17, 1942 in Craig County, VA. He was born to William and Maude Huffman. He spent the last 40 years of his life married to Rita Kurtenbach (1982). He was first married to Algenia Toni (Vajda) Davis (1964). They had two wonderful daughters Toni Marie (Huffman) Dover and Michelle Denise (Huffman) Olson. He also is survived by two stepsons Lamont Clark Muchmore and Royce Alan Muchmore. He worked hard and was a treasured Father to each of his 4 children. He was then blessed with 11 grandchildren Devynne Robertson, Dylan Shults, Morgan Ann Skinner, Dakota Shults, Rhett Muchmore, Claire Olson, Tanner Muchmore, Ava Olson, Braxton Muchmore, Annabelle Olson, and Addyson Muchmore. And then blessed with (14) great grandchildren. He had an exceptional knack for grandparenting. He was quoted at 83 saying to his wife, when counting his posterity; “We did good!”
He was a hard-working Father and did plenty to provide for his family. He spent 20 years serving diligently in the Armed Forces (Air Force). He joined the Air Force in 1960, when he and his friends went to join and the Navy recruiter was out to lunch. He was proud of his service and saluted the flag with great pride always. He then began a career with the State of Wyoming and made Cheyenne his permanent home. He worked for the State Liquor Commission for 20 years and retired in (2003). He spent a couple of years working at the Heavenly Essence candle shop before fully retiring in 2005. He was proud of his accomplishments and gained many friends through these endeavors that lasted a lifetime.
Not often looking to gather attention, he shied away from the spotlight but should be reverently honored for the man he was with a large chuckled-laugh and a knack for telling an outdoorsman type story. His grandson has a moose hunting story from Carl’s last hunt that will be published in Eastman Hunting Journal in August 2025. In addition to hunting, fishing, and camping, he was an avid bowler and reader he loved the outdoors, exercising, and books from Louis Lamour. He took tremendous pride in his yard and maintained things with a high level of detail. His truck is a 2016 Ford F-250 and looks just like the day he drove it off the Ford dealership lot! He has shared these loves and talents with his children and grandchildren. They all cherish the time he spent with them teaching them a love for similar interests.
Most of all, he loved spending time with family: celebrating birthdays, achievements, graduations, etc. He loved seeing his grandchildren’s successes, and how they all worked to serve those around them and make the world a better place through service and valued citizenship. He always had a loving hug for his children and relished and honored their successes in life. He is survived by his wife Rita Kurtenbach, his two most loved daughters; Toni Dover and Michelle Olson and their spouses, Steve Dover and Ron Olson and their 6 children. He is also survived by his two stepsons, Lamont and Royce Muchmore and their spouses Justina and Amy and their 5 children.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Harding Huffman and Maude Rachel (Huffman) Huffman, his brother Billy Huffman, and brother Gary Huffman. He is survived by his sister Connie Marie (Huffman) Moore. All of Craig County, VA. His humor, his love, his honor, and his determination now are passed on through this beautiful transition to his blessed posterity. And blessed be the name of Carl Watson Huffman forever.
