Celia Larez

August 23, 1937 — June 23, 2022

Pine Bluffs, WY

Celia Larez - age 84 of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She passed in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was married to Ray Larez for over 60 years until he passed in March 2012. Celia and Ray married at a young age and soon started a family. They eventually moved from Texas to Nebraska and finally ended up settling in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, where they remained for their final years. Celia had a passion for gardening. She always had a huge garden with lots of delicious vegetables and canned them as well. She made the most delicious pickles ever. We can also still taste those fresh garden tomatoes she would grow. We would head out to the garden with the saltshaker, pick a fresh tomato, and enjoy! Celia was an all-around awesome homemaker. Her cooking was phenomenal, especially her fresh tortillas and her green chili. She always made sure we had whatever we needed. She touched many lives with her generosity and poured her all into her family. She also helped many around Pine Bluffs with her mad cleaning skills! Some of her grandkids loved spending the summers in Pine Bluffs with their grandparents. Celia was the glue and matriarch of the family. Celia was the proud Mother of 7, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Larez and two daughters; Irma and Margarita Larez, her mother, Dolores Chavez, two sisters, Erminia Aleman, and Gloria Rodrigues, also of Texas. She is survived by her sons; Luis (Beeb) of Kimball, Nebraska, Albert (Bertie) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Joe (wife Sonja) of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, daughters; Velma Reher of Pine Bluffs who cared for her for a year and a half. Bless her heart! Gloria (JJ) Vlahos of Loveland, Colorado, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, sisters; Beatrice Franco of Big Springs, Texas, Ema Sanchez of San Antonio, Texas, brother; Andres Chavez of big Springs, Texas. Our family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful care given by Davis Hospice out of Cheyenne, Wyoming. No services have been scheduled at this time, but will be announced at the family's convenience.
