Charles "Charlie" Kokesh, a distinguished businessman and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Born on December 10, 1947, in Sundance, Wyoming, Charlie’s life was marked by unwavering determination, remarkable achievements, and an insatiable curiosity that fueled his many endeavors.
Charlie’s educational journey was nothing short of impressive. He earned a Master’s degree in Business from Harvard University, a testament to his intellectual vigor and commitment to excellence. He further expanded his academic credentials by completing a Juris Doctor at Berkeley, showcasing his drive for broadening his expertise and understanding of the world.
His professional career reflected both his sharp acumen and adventurous spirit. After being hired by Citibank, Charlie worked in dynamic international environments, including Beirut and Doha. His global exposure enriched his perspective and prepared him for significant leadership roles. Charlie then took on the critical responsibility of Chief Financial Officer at Levi Strauss in Australia, where he demonstrated exceptional financial stewardship. Later, embodying the spirit of entrepreneurship, he founded Technology Funding, a venture capital company that underscored his foresight and dedication to fostering innovation.
Those who knew Charlie recognized him as a force of nature. Always bursting with energy, he perpetually embarked on new projects and eagerly explored fresh hobbies. This zest for life extended into his personal passions, where he found joy and pride in pursuits like hunting and polo. An avid hunter, he was fortunate to travel to Africa and Argentina, fulfilling dreams of game hunting in some of the world’s most storied landscapes. His love for polo was enduring, and he played the sport for many years, blending athleticism with camaraderie.
Charlie’s family was central to his life. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sue, and his children: Adam, Andrew, Alex, Alden, and Audrey and grand children Lincoln, Quinn and Kaylee. His sons and daughter were a source of immense pride and joy, and the family shared a bond strengthened by Charlie’s unwavering devotion.
As we honor Charlie’s memory, we celebrate a life rich with accomplishment, adventure, and love. He leaves behind a legacy defined by his sharp intellect, his entrepreneurial spirit, and a heart big enough to embrace both family and friends.
