Claudia E. Wiggins

October 11, 1942 — May 7, 2025

Cheyenne

Claudia Wiggins, 82, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away May 7, 2025, at Davis Hospice. She was born on October 11, 1942, in Niagara Falls, New York, to Shirley Nevinger and John Gieb.

Claudia was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Janet Gibson, and her husband, Ralph. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Didi) VanNierop of Wentzville, Missouri; Judith Lawrence of Seminole, Texas and Sandra Jackson of Newport News, Virginia; and two sons, Jesus (Joey) Ortiz of Burlington, North Carolina, and David Ortiz, of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Claudia worked for several decades at FE Warren AFB in various jobs including as a real property manager prior to her retirement.

It is fitting that she died as spring brings forth new life. It was her favorite time of year as she loved being outside 'playing in the dirt' and watching her irises bloom in all their brilliant glory.

She loved gardening, watching birds and taking care of 'her cats' (a feral pack that 'made the shed out back their home'). She never met a stray cat that she didn't either feed or bring home.

She was an avid reader and someone who never stopped wanting to learn more about the world around her and whatever might be far, far beyond our grasp of understanding.

As per her wishes, no services are planned.

Donations in her memory can be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter at https://www.cheyenneanimalshelter.org/.
