Born July 1936. Died October 2026 age 90. Don was born in Ansley Nebraska to Glen and Alma Price. He grew up in Ansley on the farm and graduated from Ogallala High School in 1956. In his youth Don worked on the racetrack exercising horses. He grew to have a lifelong love of horses and horse racing. Throughout his entire life Dad had a love of animals. In his early years he worked as a ranch hand, Nebraska brand inspector, and later became a cattle buyer. Starting his own business, Price Cattle Company. Dad had customers and friends all over the country and spent many hours at Torrington Livestock as well as many other sale barns. Don loved sports especially college basketball and football. He refereed high school basketball games in Nebraska in his younger years. Don lived in Wheatland and Cheyenne for most of his adult years. For many of his senior years Dad worked at the Cheyenne Country Club golf course mowing grass. He worked and stayed active up until his death. He may have been a little ornery, but it was hard not to like him. He is survived by one son Troy “Howdy” and his wife Dawn, one daughter Trude, a granddaughter Hannah and a grandson Tavin. Dad will be greatly missed as a father, a grandpa, and most of all a friend.
He would say that if you knew him… you know the rest of the story and most importantly “he did it his way”.
Don asked that there be no services but that you spend time with friends and family and reminisce or just talk about the cattle market.
