Doris Evelyn Ford Cox Martin, 91, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away on December 26, 2022 at Life Care Center. Doris, was born on May 27, 1931 to two loving parents in Leoti, Kansas. 

 

Doris was the matriarch of a large blended family. She loved each and every one of them. Doris met and married James (Jim) Cox in 1947. They had 4 children. Jim passed in 1969.  In 1970 Doris met and married widower Kenneth (Bill) Martin who had 4 children. Bill passed in 20??. Although Doris took on many roles, being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother were the most important ones of her life, a role that gave her a lot of pride and joy. She was an excellent mom, supportive, kind, hilarious, and witty and we will all miss her dearly.

 

Doris was preceded in death by her parents Robert E. and Hessie E. (Brock) Ford; 2 infant brothers, her brother Glen Ford; her sisters Ruby Schwindt, Louise Terrel, and Evagene Harbach; her son Gary W. Cox; her daughter-in-law Susie Cox and granddaughter Roxanne Cox.

 

Doris is survived by 4 sons Ed (Barb) Cox of Lake Oswego, Oregon; Jim Cox of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Bill (Janeen) Martin of Peoria, Arizona; Robert (Stephanie) Martin of Eaton, Colorado; 3 daughters Debbie Martin of Hays, Kansas; Dana (Cox) Connelly of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Diane (Alan) Downing of Hays, Kansas; 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

 

Her ashes will be deposited at the Beulah Cemetery in Wichita County, Kansas and with her first husband Jim at the Liberal Kansas Memorial Cemetery. Services will be announced by the family at a later date.
