Dorothy Rayor Feldman was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on October 20, 1925. She died in Harrison, Arkansas, on November 5, 2025, at the age of 100. Her parents were Bernard Leon Rayor and Bessie Field Rayor. There were four children in the family, Sam Oscar, Sara Marie, Dorothy, and Harold. She graduated from Cheyenne High School (now called Central High) in 1943, and graduated Cum Laude with an Associate’s Degree from Laramie County Community College in 1976. In 1943, she met Joe Feldman who was a soldier at F.E. Warren. They were married October 29, 1944, in Cheyenne. They had two children, Mark and Miriam.
Dorothy was active at Mt. Sinai Synagogue for many years. She established a Jewish library at the synagogue with Joe’s Judaica books when he passed in 1991. She was a member of TOPS, a charter member of the Art Guild, and raised Arabian horses in partnership with Eleanor Prince who owned Sodergreen Ranch in Buford, Wyoming. Dorothy was a talented artist and a bookkeeper. She managed her brother’s doctors’ offices on Logan Avenue for 60 years.
Dorothy was dedicated to Jewish study and practice. She was also a pet lover. In addition to her life-long love of horses, she owned many beloved dogs and cats through the years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Bernard Leon Rayor and Bessie Field Rayor, her brother Sam Oscar, her sister Sara Marie, and her son Mark Feldman. She is survived by her daughter Miriam (Tom) Ross, daughter-in-law Susan Feldman, 7 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Mt Sinai at 10:00am on Sunday 11/9 followed immediately by a graveside service at 11:00 in the Jewish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Sinai Synagogue in Cheyenne, Wyoming at 2610 Pioneer Avenue Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001.
