At Doug’s request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service with Military Honors will be conducted on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel with The Reverend David Stratton officiating. Cremation has taken place at Schrader’s Sunset Park Crematory. Douglas V. Kauffman, 61, of Cheyenne, passed away early Thursday morning, February 18, 2010, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born January 18, 1949, in Denver, Colorado, a son of the late Arthur V. and Mary D. (Dean) Kauffman. Doug graduated from high school in Los Angeles, California, and later enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his service in Italy and his honorable discharge, he enrolled in a technical college where he trained in computer technology. His interest in computers led him to Cheyenne where he worked for the Wyoming State Legislature installing and programming computers and also for the Cheyenne Police Department and more recently for the State of Wyoming I.T. Department. His many interests included playing the piano and the guitar, and he enjoyed listening to music, particularly rock-n-roll. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and he had hoped one day to own a Harley Davidson motorcycle. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and building computers with his son, James. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Rondalin (Johnson) Kauffman of Cheyenne; his son, James Kauffman of Cheyenne; his brother, Gary Kauffman of Palmdale, CA and sister, Marilyn Davis of Pahrump, NV; and an uncle and aunt, Don and Shirley Dean of Cheyenne. Expressions of sympathy in Doug’s memory may be made to the Douglas V. Kauffman Memorial Fund for the benefit of his son, James Kauffman. Contributions may be mailed to the Meridian Trust Federal Credit Union, 2223 Warren Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 82001.
