Edward Morris Riedel, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on January 6,2026, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, at the age of 85. Born on March 20, 1940, in Burns, Wyoming, Ed was a dedicated individual whose strong work ethic defined his life, particularly during his rewarding career with the railroad from which he later retired.
Ed was known not only for his industrious spirit but also for his pride in having served in the army, where he was fortunate to be enlisted during peacetime. This chapter of his life was one he cherished greatly, and he carried the values learned during this time throughout his life.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Ed had a passion for mechanics, finding joy in working on vehicles and fixing things around him. His hands-on approach to life and his knack for problem-solving were qualities that endeared him to many. He also greatly enjoyed finding sales, particularly farm sales.
Ed is survived by his loving sister, Clara Wells; his brothers, William Riedel and George Riedel; as well as numerous nephews and one niece who will carry forward his legacy. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Emma, and also by his brothers John Riedel, Leonard Riedel, and Jim Riedel, each of whom he held dear in his heart. His final resting place will be next to his dear wife in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
As we remember Edward Morris Riedel, we take comfort in knowing that he touched many lives and leaves behind cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be missed very much, and his legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for family will continue to inspire those he left behind.
A Memorial Service celebrating Ed's life will be held on Tuesday January 20, 2026 at 2PM at Schrader Funeral Home. We will be celebrating the life of Ed and his late brother John; who passed away 1 year and 1 day before Ed.
