Edwin Ernest Stainback III

Edwin Ernest Stainback III, age 87, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away on June 29, 2025. He was born in Harnett County, North Carolina, and carried his love for his home state throughout his life.

Ed proudly served his country in the United States Navy, stationed aboard the USS Dupont (DD‑941), and continued his service in the U.S. Naval Reserve following active duty. He was a man of quiet strength and deep devotion, especially to his beloved wife, Betty Hodge Stainback, who preceded him in death.

Ed had a lifelong love of music; he played the trumpet and saxophone, and lent his voice to the choir with joy. He was also a devoted member of the Salvation Army, serving his faith and community with humility and care. His kind heart, warm laughter, and steadfast spirit touched the lives of those who knew him.

He will be laid to rest beside Betty at Fort Laramie Cemetery in Fort Laramie, Wyoming. In accordance with his wishes, no formal service will be held.

Ed will be remembered with love and gratitude by friends and extended family.
