With deep sorrow and everlasting love, we announce the passing of Elena Christina Guzman. She departed this life on September 28, 2025, at the age of 44. She passed peacefully and loved, surrounded by the people who meant the most to her.
Elena was born on May 27, 1981, in Amarillo, Texas, to loving parents, Juan and Karen Guzman. Raised in a close-knit and loving home, she developed into a woman renowned for her compassion, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Elena was a woman of grace, warmth, and unwavering loyalty. She was affectionate, selfless, charismatic, and deeply supportive. Her generous spirit touched everyone she met, and her non-judgmental nature created a space for others to feel safe and accepted. To many, she was a safe place, a listening ear, and a soft heart. She was truly everyone’s favorite. She attended Amarillo College, where she studied Nursing, a reflection of her natural ability to care for others. Alongside her caregiving nature, Elena was also a talented and hardworking businesswoman. Over the years, she managed several businesses with grace and determination, always striving to build something meaningful for her family.
But Elena’s greatest purpose and proudest title was being a mother. She was a devoted and nurturing mom to her five stars: Robert Arellano and his wife Stephanie, Joseph Priego, Justin Priego, Orlando Arellano and his wife MJ, and Breanna Priego. She raised her children with unconditional love, patience, confidence, and strength. She celebrated their wins and stood by them through challenges. She gave them the kind of love that never wavered. Her presence was constant, her love fierce, and her sacrifices immeasurable. She was also a proud and adoring grandmother to Trinity Arellano, Anaiyah Arellano, and E’siyah Arellano. Her role as “Grandma” brought her tremendous joy. She poured the same unconditional love into her grandchildren that she gave so freely throughout her life. Elena’s love for family extended deeply to her older sister, Rebecca Guzman and twin brother, John Guzman. The lifelong bond with her siblings was especially sacred to her. Their connection was rooted in shared childhood. As a sister, she was equal parts confidant, partner-in-crime, and protector. Her brother and sister will forever cherish their memories together. Elena’s connection to her niece Heaven Varela and nephews Noe Guzman and Issac Varela was filled with love and trust. To her niece and nephews, she was more than an aunt; she was a second mother, loving them as her own. She offered them guidance and unwavering support, and love throughout their lives. She remained forever close to her parents, Juan and Karen Guzman, who stood by her side throughout her life and her illness. She will be remembered not only for being a devoted daughter, a cherished sibling, a loving mother, a passionate partner, and an understanding aunt, but also as a lively cousin, a dear niece, and a true friend to so many. Her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit touched everyone blessed to know her.
Despite facing a brave and difficult battle with cancer, Elena never lost her joy, her smile, or her love for life. She continued to dance, laugh, and surround herself with the people she loved most. She found peace in the little things like reading novels, watching TV shows, listening to music, dancing, and playing word games with a sparkle in her eye.
Elena lived by the words: “Put out to the universe what you want back from it”. She believed in kindness, compassion, and the power of love, and she lived by that belief every day. Her life was a living embodiment of her values: to give freely, to love deeply, and to always be present for the people who mattered.
A celebration of Elena’s life will be held on October 11, 2025, at 2:00pm, at the GI Forum 619. All who knew her are welcome to attend and honor the legacy of a woman who gave so much of herself to others.
Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy will live on in every life she touched. She was a mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a grandmother, and a friend, but above all, she was the heart of her family.
We love you, Elena. You gave us everything.
Your love will guide us always.
