Eugene Hanson

d. December 25, 2010

Eugene “Gene” Wayne Hanson of Pine Bluffs died December 25, 2010 early Christmas morning at home surrounded by his wife, Georgia and his three children, Dennis, Sonja and Carrie. Gene was born August 9, 1919, he spent his entire 91 years of living and death on his beloved farm/ranch. Gene was the oldest of three children born to Jonas E. and Caroline A Hanson, pioneers of the Territory of WY and the Salem Community near Pine Bluffs. Gene lost his mother, Caroline at the age of seven and father, Jonas raised his three children on his J / C homestead by himself. Gene married Georgia J. Wulf on October 13, 1943 in Pine Bluffs, WY and they had 67 wonderful years together on that same homestead. Gene is survived by his wife, Georgia; son Dennis (Deidre) Hanson and grandchildren Jonas, Erica and Emily; daughters Sonja (Clyde) Windecker and grandchildren Shane, Heath and Justin; and Carrie (Howard) Deselms and grandchildren Kirstin, Hugh, and Silas and 12 great grandchildren. A connection to the land is felt by all, the ties, the emotion, the old Stetson on the wall. Sounds of the present and echoes of the past determine how his legacy will last. Gene was preceded in death by his sisters Lucille Hanson Timmerman in 1965 and Lorraine Hanson Phillips Ornealas in 2010. A Funeral Liturgy will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Pine Bluffs, WY with Father Tom Cronkleton as celebrant. A cake and coffee reception will follow at the Parish Hall. Cremation has taken place and graveside interment will be held at later date. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren and all of his friends and neighbors. Donations can be made by extending an act of kindness to the senior citizen of your choice.
