Evalyn L. Johnson passed away on October 29, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend with a heart of gold.
Evalyn was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan on April 13, 1926, the only child of her parents. She moved from Michigan living in numerous states like Colorado and California finally settling in Cheyenne, Wyoming for the remainder of her life.
She was an accomplished artist in oil painting, watercolors, colored pencils and needlepoint. She was also an avid reader with a particular interest in American and European history.
Evalyn began her working career as a waitress at the legendary Mayflower Restaurant in the 60's and 70's. She worked at Los Amigos for 14 years. She then changed her path and worked at Mountain Bell in a management position for 10 years. After that she enjoyed working as administrative assistant with multiple law firms until she was 85 years old.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert T. Johnson, her son Arthur L. Schmidt, her daughters Jacqueline Schmidt Hutchinson and Jere Johnson Kelly and her precious Yorkie Carly.
Evalyn is survived by her children, Anne Schmidt, Gerry Schmidt (Robin), Gene Schmidt (Rhonda) and Bobby Johnson (Natalie). She is also survived by her grandchildren David Almodovar (Julie), Casey Schmidt (Sarah), Carrie Schmidt, Robin Schmidt Jones, Jared Schmidt (Ausena), Heather Nichelson, Sean Flannigan (Cortney) and Raeanne Johnson Dimick (Logan). Evalyn is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren.
Evalyn loved being the matriarch of such a large family who all loved her deeply. She will be missed dearly. A Celebration of her life of almost 100 years will take place in Spring of 2026.
