Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother Genevieve J. Sandoval on May 1, 2026, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Jenny was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, business owner, and beloved member of her community. She was born on November 28, 1933, in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Genevieve’s journey through life was marked by deep love, unwavering dedication to family, and a compassionate spirit that touched all who knew her.

Genevieve’s early years in Las Vegas, New Mexico, laid the foundation for a life rich in service and connection. After graduating from high school, she attended Highlands University, where her thirst for knowledge and engagement with others blossomed. While in school she was employed part time at a psychiatric hospital where she met and worked alongside Pacomio the love of her life. They married and began their crazy life in Cheyenne, Wyoming where they started their family.

Throughout her life, Genevieve wore many hats with grace and pride. She worked as a bookkeeper for Asher Wyoming Co. and Petersen's Buffet, before pursuing her entrepreneurial spirit by purchasing and opening the House of Flowers and Bridal Shop. Her talent and passion for floral design extended to shops at Warren Air Force Base, Peterson Air Force Base, and the Colorado Springs Air Force Academy, where she cultivated beauty and joy for countless customers.

Genevieve’s greatest pride lies in her family and her ability to care for others. She was a social soul with a vibrant sense of humor, known for telling colorful jokes that brought laughter to all around her. She was deeply committed to volunteering, contributing her time and heart to Foster Grandparents, St. Joseph Catholic Church, and VFW Post 4343. Her love for life included a fondness for bingo, gambling, traveling with her family, dancing, and all activities that showcased her joyful spirit and zest for living.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Pacomio (Packy) Sandoval; her parents, Antonio and Delfina Ortega; her in-laws, Pacomio Sandoval Sr. and Rumaldita Sandoval; and siblings Marcella Ortega, Estella Esquibel, and Tony Ortega. Though they have passed beyond this life, their memories remain intertwined with hers, forever held dear in the hearts of those who knew her.

She is survived by her sister, Minnie Vigil of Albuquerque, New Mexico; devoted daughters Evelyn Mansell (David) and Terri Sandoval; granddaughter Jennifer Titus (Todd) of Casper, Wyoming; grandson Brian Mansell of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and four great-grandchildren, Ava, Maya, Lucas, and Simon Titus, in Casper, Wyoming. These cherished family members carry forward her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.

The family would like to thank Life Care Center of Cheyenne, where she resided for three years. There she was well cared for and loved by many of the Nurses, CNAS and residents.

A service to celebrate Genevieve’s life will be held on May 13, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located at 603 House Ave, Cheyenne, WY. The Rosary will begin at 11:00 am Immediately followed by mass at 11:30. A graveside service will take place thereafter at Mount Olivet Cemetery, with a reception to follow at St. Joseph's Parish Hall. Friends and family are invited to join and honor a woman whose life was defined by love, service, and a remarkable spirit.

Genevieve J. Sandoval’s life was a testament to the power of family, community, and kindness. She touched lives with her generosity and laughter and leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate to know her. In her memory, may we all find the courage to live fully, love deeply, and give generously, just as she did every day. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Joseph's Food pantry.
