Obituary

George Moran Jr., a beloved husband, brother, and cherished friend, passed peacefully on February 5, 2026, at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Born on December 4, 1937, in West Hazleton, Pennsylvania, George's journey through life was marked by joy, kindness, and a profound dedication to serving others.

After graduating high school, George enlisted in the Air Force just three days later, where he honed his skills as a weapons mechanic before transitioning into logistics and research. His commitment to his country spanned 21 years, culminating in a well-deserved retirement at F.E. Warren Air Force Base. George's career in defense mapping and civil service further showcased his dedication, having spent time working in both Cheyenne and St. Louis before finding his way back to the welcoming embrace of Cheyenne.

Education played an important role in George’s formative years at West Hazelton Grade School and High School, where he created lasting memories on the football field. This early love of sport continued throughout his life, as he reveled in the joy of playing softball, baseball, and volleyball. These accomplishments remain a significant source of pride for George, who loved recounting stories of his athletic endeavors to friends and family.

George's spirit was characterized by an infectious joy and a gentle humor that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He had a unique talent for crafting dollar bill "boats,” a whimsical skill he picked up while stationed in Japan, which brought smiles to everyone he met. His ability to joke and connect with others was rooted in a deep well of kindness, ensuring that he left a positive impact wherever he went.

The love story between George and his dear wife, Erlene "Linda" Moran, began on July 13, 1963, and for 62 wonderful years, they exemplified what it meant to be partners in life. Their shared interests, particularly in fishing and hunting, led them to travel across the United States and around the world. Wherever you saw George, there was Linda, always by his side—true companions in every adventure.

Although George and Linda did not have children of their own, they immersed themselves in the lives of their friends and neighbors, cultivating strong and loving bonds that enriched their community.

George is survived by his sisters—Mariann, Theresa, and Susan—along with Linda Grenvavich, his dedicated cousin-in-law. As well as his lovely wife and partner, Erlene "Linda" Moran.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George Moran and Anna Washko Moran, and his cousin, William Grenvavich. Although he has departed from this world, his legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering love will continue to resonate through those he touched during his remarkable life. He leaves behind a profound absence but also a treasure trove of memories that will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
