Davis II

St. Mark's Episcopal Church
10:00 - 11:00 am (Mountain time)
Service to be immediately followed by a Reception in the Parish Hall.
Dr. Harmon H. “Bud” Davis II was born in Denver, Colorado and grew up in the Denver suburb of Cherry Hills. He worked on a cattle ranch south of Denver every summer from age 10 to 19. A first-generation college graduate, Bud matriculated from Yale University with BA in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy in 1968 and then graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1972.
Bud married Claire Reese shortly after Medical School graduation. He did his internal medicine residency at Barnes Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis, followed by two years active duty as a medical officer in the US Navy, home ported in San Diego. Bud retired as a Lt. Commander and then returned to Washington University Affiliated Hospitals for a Pulmonary Fellowship and spent an additional year as an Instructor in Medicine and Radiology at Washington University Medical Center doing research on Indium labeled platelets and white blood cells.
In 1979, he moved his family to Cheyenne where he joined the Internal Medicine Group, P.C. and served as President of the group for 15 years. Over the 34 years of practice as a Pulmonologist/Critical Care Specialist, Bud served continuously as a Medical Staff Officer from 1982 to 2004. In addition, he was Governor of the Wyoming Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP), and served two years as the Vice Chair of the ACP Ethics Committee.
In 2013, he retired from practice but continued to serve as Medical Director of the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program; as an adjudicator for Wyoming Disability Determination Services; as a member of the Wyoming Medical Commission; and as a member of the Wyoming Commission on Judicial Conduct and Ethics.
Bud was intensely involved with CRMC. He served two terms as Chief of Staff and a five-year term as a member of the Board of Trustees. In 2014, he joined the CRMC Foundation Board of Directors and was Board Chair in 2017 and 2018. Bud served continuously on the Foundation Board through 2025. In 2026, he was recognized as an Emeritus Member.
Deeply involved in his community, Bud was a member of Rotary International for over 25 years. He and Claire hosted two exchange students. He was actively involved in Young Men’s Literary Club for 30 years. Bud was a proud graduate of the (arguably best) Class of 2018 of Leadership Wyoming. He served on the Advisory Committee for the Respiratory Therapy program at Laramie County Community College (LCCC).
Bud and Claire were most proud of the creation of the Davis First Generation Experience at LCCC. This scholarship program helps first generation students find their way to college success by reducing barriers to higher education and connecting them resources to ease the transition into college life and promote long-term success.
Bud was a faithful member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. He served on the vestry several times and sang in the choir with his wife. He was also a lay reader. Most recently he served on the Centennial Foundation.
A life long lover of animals, Bud and Claire rescued many dogs, cats, and other animals. With a particular fondness for standard poodles, Bud adorded his current cherished dogs, Luna, Hans, and Emi.
Bud was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Claire. He leaves behind his daughter, Gwendolyn, son, Justin (Sarah Wong), grandkids Harper and Karima, and sister Cheri (Richard) Davis as well as several nieces and nephews and sisters and brothers-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the Davis First Generation Experience endowment at LCCC. http://lccc.wy.edu/give.
