Federer, his son, Gregory J. Federer, and his Certified Nursing Angel, Teresa Terri Coulson. He is also survived by his daughter, Dr. Debra H. Federer M.D. of Sarasota, FL, a sister Barbara Epler of Hillsdale, Wy and granddaughter, Alexandra Federer Dunn of Ft Worth, TX. James if also survived by a multitude of Federer descendants. John Henry Federer and his 3 brothers (Theodore, Louie and Wild Bill) homesteaded Northwest of Cheyenne 100 years ago. John Henry married Tony Marie Brambora and they had 12 children (Francis Christensen, Walter Federer, Ruth Clizbe, Lydia Foster, Johnny Federer, Doris Morrison, Esther Joresz, Betty Pace, Tuffy Federer, M.V. Bud Federer, and Barbara Epler.) John Henry, James’ father, died early in a horse- wagon accident and Tony Marie raised the 12 children and remained on the homestead. James attended the Federer School, District 6, until it closed. He then attended McCormick Junior High and Cheyenne High School. James left school early to work milking cows and hauling hay to help his mother support the ranch. He later returned to school to play football at the urging of Okie Blanchard, and Kurt Gowdy subsequently wrote newspaper articles about his football playing ability and his physical toughness. Following graduation from Cheyenne High School he joined the Army and rode a milk train to his military station at Camp Lee in Petersburg, Virginia. After returning from the Army, he broke horses and did other odd jobs, including building a barn for his sister. When he planned to marry, his mother told him to find a profession, at which time he became an apprentice plumber. In 1949 he purchased Frontier Plumbing on his personal reputation and a loan. He expanded the business to Casper, Wy and Colorado Springs, Co. James’ professional career turned into a mechanical/utility contracting and land development business in numerous states. He, his family, and business associates, were involved in too many projects to mention. He often said that he felt there wasn’t a job he couldn’t do. He told his family he believed that he purchased the first main frame computer in Cheyenne, and was in awe of the progress of technology. Pallbearers will be Alan Epler, Lloyd Federer, J.D. Romsa, Kevin Walden, Chad Federer and Monte Talkington . Honorary pallbearers will be all those he inspired in the building trades.
