James (Jim) Moore

May 14, 1942 — October 13, 2025

Cheyenne

James Ray Moore was born in Lubick, Texas on May 14, 1942.  He spent his K-12 years in O'Donnell, Texas.  After graduating, Jim pursued advanced degrees starting at South Plains Community College, continuing his education at Colorado State University, transferring to Texas Tech, and receiving his teaching credentials at Stephen F. Austin University.  Jim then began a long 35 year teaching and coaching career in Cheyenne, Wyoming at Johnson Jr. High.  He received his Masters degree at the University of Wyoming as well as his PhD in Environmental Science.

Jim was the oldest of five children.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie Dean Moore and Benjamin Moore.  Surviving family include his son, James Andrew Moore, his sisters Sandra Moore and Donna Sue Telchik, brothers Bob Moore (Jacque) and Donnie Moore.  Other surviving family members include his brothers in-law Christopher Ivey and Stephen Hunter, his sister in-law Diedre Hunter, and his wife of 31 years, Christine Ivey Moore.

Jim was one of the kindest human beings you could ever meet.  He was a track and field athlete whose specialty was pole vault.  He was a master carpenter, contractor and landscaper.  He was an avid non-fiction reader of meteorology, the science of alternate universes, the future of the cosmos, time warps, and the 10th dimension.  He loved animals passionately, especially his two rescue dogs, Scooch and Annie Moore, and he loved me, his wife.  I was the one true love of his life.
