James (Jim) D. Williamson, 92, passed away July 13, 2025, at the VA of Cheyenne, Wy. Jim was born in the territory of Hawaii to Rear Admiral D. F. Williamson and Ruth Hamil. Over the years he moved with his parents and attended several schools. A fond memory was first grade in Panama. He spent summers and the war years on a farm near Sterling, Colorado. He graduated from Punahoe High School and went to Colorado State University which was Colorado A & M at the time. He enlisted in the army and was transferred to the United States Army Reserve. He joined the Army National Guard when the Army Reserve left Sterling, Colorado. He was the manager for the Atwood section of Hamil Brothers for most of his working life. He also worked for a Sterling sign company with lights and neon signs in his later years.
Jim was active in the Sterling Presbyterian Church serving as clerk of session off and on for 26 years and served a term as Presbytery Clerk when Boulder Presbytery and Box Butte Presbytery joined to form Plains and Peaks Presbytery. Jim was also active in Sterling Jaycees, Beef Expo and a 20 year 4-H leader
Jim married his wife Jean and had four children while living on the farm/ranch near Atwood, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Naomi Van Horn, and his two sisters Jane Myhre and Linda Benson. He is survived by his wife Jean, sons Larry (Deby), Keith, and John (Suzanne), and his daughter Ruth (George), nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Sterling Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 19, at 11:00AM.
