Janet May Tilton

Janet May Tilton passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on July 28, 2025. She was born in Cody, Wyoming, to Art Nelson and Anna Jean Kuntz and was later adopted by her loving father, David Kuntz.

Janet was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, wife, and friend. She is survived by her daddy David Kuntz. Her two beloved daughters, Justine Morris (Leon) and Gena Tilton, who were her pride and joy. She was a loving grandmother to Josh (Brittany) Morris and Justin (Taylor) Morris, and a proud great-grandmother to Anna (Wyatt), Landon, Nolan, and Kaden Morris. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, often taking them on spontaneous road trips and creating memories they will hold forever.

Janet shared her childhood with two sisters, Autha Jean Smith and Leann Vigil, and was affectionately known as “Aunt Jannie” to many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

On October 13, 2021, Janet married the love of her life, Gerald McMullen. Through this union, she gained three stepchildren: Tina Dean (Dave), Misty McMullen (Jeannie), and Robert McMullen (Theresa). She also welcomed two more grandchildren into her heart, Zianna and Estyn McMullen, as well as many “bonus” kids in Georgia who became like family to her.

Janet retired from Stride Learning Center in 2019, after a long and dedicated career in various roles where she touched the lives of many.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Anna Jean Kuntz; her grandson, Jaccob David; and her brother-in-law, Ricky Smith.

Janet lived a full and vibrant life centered around family, faith, and service to others. Whether hosting family dinners, celebrating holidays, or hitting the road on a whim, she was always present, always giving, and always loving. She had a remarkable spirit that lit up any room—whether she was giving her well-known “JT look” or offering one of her famous, soul-warming hugs. Her compassion extended to everyone she met, always making sure that both hearts and bellies were full.

Janet’s memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her. We find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with loved ones in Heaven. Her legacy of love, generosity, and strength lives on in each of us.
