Jenifer Benzel, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away in Cheyenne on September 22, 2026, at the age of 44.

Born on February 3, 1982, in Cheyenne, Jenifer lived with remarkable strength, love, and determination. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, she fought hard and reached remission until 2022, when the cancer returned and she overcame it again. In March of 2024, it returned once more, this time as stage 4 metastatic cancer. After a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle, she passed away, having faced every chapter of her illness with extraordinary resolve. For 11 years, Jenifer lived life to its fullest while battling cancer, never allowing it to slow her down.

Jenifer was part owner of City National Pawn, where her hard work and dedication helped run a successful business. She was known as smart, kind, caring, loving, honest, hardworking, compassionate, reliable, trustworthy, loyal, strong-willed, and determined. To those who knew her best, she was an outstanding daughter, an awesome sister and the world’s best wife and mother anyone could ever ask for.

She loved going out to eat with her husband and sons, shopping, watching movies and television, being at home with her family, and taking vacations together. These everyday joys were at the heart of her life, and they reflected how deeply she valued time spent with the people she loved most.

Jenifer’s life was defined by love, perseverance, and devotion to her family.

Among her proudest accomplishments were her two sons, Kaleb and Kameron, who brought her immense pride and joy. She also took great pride in helping build and sustain a successful business and in the life she created with her family. The love she gave as a mother and wife will remain one of her most enduring legacies.

Jenifer is survived by her husband of 23 years, Jason Benzel, and by their sons, Kaleb Benzel, 21, and Kameron Benzel, 18. She is also survived by her father, Jeff Braunschweig; her mother, Sheri Best; her brother, Mat Braunschweig (Crystal); her sister-in-law, Crystal Benzel (Josiah); and her brother-in-law, Cory Smith. She also leaves behind nine nieces and nephews along with many treasured memories held close by those who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hubert Norfleet, Alice Norfleet, Walter Braunschweig, and Juanita Kaser.

Jenifer’s life was defined by love, perseverance, and devotion to her family. She met hardship with courage and continued to embrace joy, loyalty, and togetherness through every season of her life. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always by all who had the blessing of knowing her.

A private service will be held in her honor.
