Jenny Lou Christman, (Houghton), passed away on October 16, 2026, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was born on February 14, 1948, in Kirksville, Missouri, and lived a life marked by strength, kindness, and deep devotion to her family.
Jenny graduated from East High in 1966 and went on to build a long and steady career, working for the State of Wyoming for 36 years. Her commitment and perseverance were reflected not only in her work, but in the way she lived every part of her life. She was known as a super kind woman, and also as someone wonderfully stubborn and strong. That strength carried her through life and was especially evident in the love and determination with which she raised her children by herself, an accomplishment that remained among the things she was most proud of. Her children were, above all, the center of her heart.
In her younger years, Jenny was an avid runner, enjoyed making crafts, and volunteering for Safe House. She also loved watching Western movies, a simple pleasure that brought her enjoyment over the years. Whether in motion, meeting life head-on, or relaxing with a favorite film, she brought the same resilient spirit to all she did.
She is survived by her sons, Mathew Rusk and Jeffrey Rusk, who were her greatest pride and joy. She is also survived by her sister, Winnie Talkington. Jenny had five grandkids; Michael Wester (Susie), Kristina Madden (Charlie), Austin Rusk (Alyssa), Cortland Kazol (Wyatt), Rebecca Fryman (Wyatt), and eleven great grand-kids. She is also survived by nieces and a nephew and by all who loved her and were shaped by her strength, care, and enduring example.
Jenny was preceded in death by her first husband, Ted Rusk; her second husband, Ed Christman; her father, Virgil Houghton; her mother, Rosalie Houghton; her brothers, Steven, who died as a baby, and Tom; and her nephew, Casey Talkington.
Jenny will be remembered for her strength, her determination, her kindness, and the fierce love she gave to her family. Her life was one of perseverance and heart, and her memory will remain a lasting comfort to those who knew and loved her.
