Joan Ballantyne

Joan Louise Ballantyne passed away in her home of natural causes on December 2, 2020 in Cheyenne, WY. She was 76 years old.

Joan was born November 13, 1944 in Minneapolis, MN to Luther and Margaret “Peggy” Lusk.  She attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction, then lived many years in the small mountain town of Feather Falls, CA before settling back in the Grand Valley.  She married the love of her life, Gary Richard Ballantyne on October 4, 1986 in Palisade, CO.  They were both employed for many years at Grand Junction Regional Center as Psychiatric Technicians for the State of Colorado.  Joan was a member of and served on the board of Orchard Mesa Christian Church.  She was passionate about helping those in need and lived that out with the people she knew, volunteering and giving to organizations with the same goal.

She is survived by her children, Don “Hank” Williams Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Apache Junction, AZ, Jeannie Miller of Sacramento, CA and Tama Stull and her husband, Brad of Cheyenne, WY.  She also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Benè Lusk and brothers, Bill and Buzz Irvine.  She adored and was adored by 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, many beloved nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband Gary; her parents and brothers, Michael and Charles Lusk.

Memorial services will be held June 2021 at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Orchard Mesa Christian Church and Grand Valley Catholic Outreach in Grand Junction.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home and condolences may be offered to the family at www.schradercares.com.
