Joe E Garcia of Cheyenne passed away on November 29, 2022 peacefully at CRMC Davis Hospice Center. He was born August 29, 1931 in Guadelupita, New Mexico to Reymundo and Annie (Silva) Garcia. Joe Moved to Cheyenne in 1943 with his parents and siblings and remained a resident until his passing. Joe Worked for the Railroad for 40+ years. Everyone who knew Joe knew his nickname of “Little Bear”.

Joe loved life traveling, camping, fishing even just sitting by a lake. He also loved to sneak off to a casino from time to time. Joe took up a hobby of native beading he went to the library and check out tons of books and studied he also studied the bead work from different pow-wows he and Betty went to and taught himself how to bead. He was so proud he had accomplished this. He beaded belts, hat bands necklace with matching earrings. he gifted these to his loved ones. Little Bear had a tremendous love and respect for the Native American culture He would often share the story of his grandfather and where his Apache background came from. He was also a Godly man. Church was a must, rain or shine, even on his travels he would find a local parish to attend mass. Joe had an abundance of love for his grandchildren he was blessed with 21 grandkids, 14 great grand kids and 10 great great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was a friendly man always flashing that warm smile. Joe spent his last 26 years married to Betty together they made memories of traveling, camping enjoying the grandkids and living a humble life. She was by his side when he beat his battle with cancer and he thanked her every day for that.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymundo & Annie, and his siblings: Estevan, Elma, Ted Alfred, Raymundo, Mary and Steve.

Joe is survived by his wife Betty his children Joe (Ginger), Ellen, Duane (Helen), Chris, Reymundo (Regina) from his previous marriage to Mary (RIP). Also his bonus children Martina and LeeAnn (Paul), as well as his sister Jennie.

A Rosary will take place at 5:00PM on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Lakeview Chapel in Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home, 2222 Russell Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 82001.

A Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00AM on Friday, December 9, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 603 House Ave, Cheyenne, WY 82007, with a reception following in the Parish Hall.

 

You will be greatly missed but never forgotten in our hearts is where we will carry you Little Bear until we meet again fly high with the angles.
