Obituary

John Lee Lemmons was a dedicated Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather that loved his whole family with all his heart. He was a teacher, a mentor, a legend to everyone and believed "Anything can be done if you set your mind to it". The word "Can't" was not in his vocabulary. He was so proud of all his family's accomplishments and "As long as you progress every day, no matter the setbacks you had, it was a good day. Make every day a productive one." He graduated from Hominy High in Hominy, Oklahoma, class of 1964, as a "River Rat" from Cleveland, Oklahoma where he was born in the bedroom of his grandmother's house. He pursued education and went to The University of Oklahoma where he earned his degree in Nuclear Technology. After graduating from College, He went to work for Sandia Corporation in Albuquerque, N.M. where he was involved with underground testing and radioactive technologies. He even has a book he wrote in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C... For a side gig, as if he wasn't busy enough already, He decided to learn Ballroom dancing and became a dance instructor for Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Albuquerque, N.M. This is when he met his first wife Patricia Williams and they had his first son Troy Lemmons. He developed severe allergies, so he decided to move to Cheyenne, WY in 1969 and went to work for the State Health Department as a Mine Inspector. While in Cheyenne, He decided to start building his own mobile home park (Ponderosa Village). He grew tired of the politics of working for the state and the mobile home park became his true passion and he pursued that dream with all that he had. This is where he met Mary Diane Plumley and they got married. He raised Kathleen, Casey and Corey as his own and a couple years later they became proud parents again of Clifford and Selestina. Together, we put our all into building and learning, striving to make the mobile home park last for future generations. He wanted to make sure his family would never go without and at the same time, provide a nice community where he helped so many people. Since he was involved with mobile homes now, He decided to start A-Team and transported mobile homes across the country. In 1990, He was offered a job with the U.S. Forest Service to perform maintenance on equipment for wild land firefighting and became a MAFFS Mechanic. MAFFS allowed him to travel all across the country, even Indonesia and England. He remained a MAFFS Mechanic for 30+ years. He met Mary Welch during this time and they were like 2 peas in a pod. Knowing somehow what each other was thinking about, even when they were states apart. As he went on MAFFS assignments, Mary helped run the mobile home park and helped to raise the grandson that he had taken in to raise as another son. The Welch family had become part of the Lemmons family as well. John had a full life and treasured everything that he had accomplished. There was no job too big and no job too small. He enjoyed being able to help everyone he came in contact with, "The Lord has blessed me" he would say. He had dreams that he would be a pastor of a little white church in a meadow and now he has fulfilled his dream. He has touched so many lives throughout his lifetime. We lost a great man but we take comfort knowing his little buddy Max went with him. Rest easy Dad, you "Tough Ole Bird". You'll always be our "Dumb Ole Cowboy" that's "Tougher than an Old Leather Boot". He was proceeded in death by his father Clifford William Lemmons, his first wife Patricia Williams, mother Mary Catherine Diem Lemmons, brothers Curly, Clifford, Lynn, and his sister Delilah, his nephew Colt Lemmons, and his grandson Zacharyah Lemmons. He is survived by his brothers Ronald Lemmons and Kenny Lemmons, His soulmate Mary Diane Tammen, Children Troy Lemmons Sr., Kathleen (Kat) Medina, Casey Medina, Corey Medina, Clifford Lemmons, Selestina Marie Raya, Troy Lemmons Jr., Patricia Lemmons, Clifford Lee Lemmons, Lisa Welch, Fawntana Welch, Vidala Venzor Reynova, many grandchildren and great grandchildren and lots of family and friends. He will be sorely missed but his dreams and aspirations will remain and thrive for years to come. His viewing will be held at Schraders Funeral home on Wednesday February 18 from 4-7 P.M. and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. This Obituary will be updated with location ,date and time as family gets it figured out. He will be laid to rest next to his mother and father in Hominy, Oklahoma.
