Josephine Hernandez Tortolito, passed away on January 2, 2023.
She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on May 4, 1929, to Felix and Damiana Hernandez. She lived a very active life, that was centered around her love for her family. She was a very hard worker; especially as the head cook at the Coffee Cup. As a very feisty lady she also expressed her joy for life by cooking, embroidering, dancing and listening to Elvis Presley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Tortolito; her sons, Jimmy Gonzales, Johnny Martinez, Manuel Tortolito, Tony Martinez, Christopher Tortolito, Steve Tortolito; her grandsons, Anthony Martinez and baby Efrain Del Hierro. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Henry Mendez, Joe Gonzales, Ray Gonzales; sisters Pauline Salas, Rose Rosales, Angela Alcon and Alice Salas.
She is survived by daughters, Lorraine Del Hierro, Sharon Tortolito; son Kenneth Tortolito; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren; Sisters Florence Espinoza and Geraldine Gonzales.
A viewing and Vigil for the Dead will be held on Tuesday January 10 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Lakeview Chapel, at Schrader, Aragon & Jacoby Funeral Home.
A funeral mass will be said on Wednesday January 11 at 1 pm at St Joseph’s Catholic church, followed by an internment at Olivet Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons; Amador Liendo, Higinio Martinez, Orlando Martinez, Alexander Liendo, Jayden Bush and Noah Martinez.
