So, the last thing Joyce, a/k/a Groovy, would have wanted, was her name in the paper. 

Sorry Groovy, we are going to talk a little about you. Groovy was always an elegant, independent, and strong woman who loved books, computers, tools and chocolate. She must have read at least a million books in her lifetime. One great lady said she had a feisty and tenacious spirit. She was also the sweetest and most considerate person, not to mention very funny. She was always making us laugh. 

We are thankful that she lived independently at home for almost 90 years, receiving help only with household chores and dinners. It wasn't until she broke her hip in June, requiring 24-hour care, that she was taken from her home and never returned. The year 2026 brought so many caring and beautiful people to help us when we needed them most. They all rallied behind her, advocating hard for her, and even took care of her family all the way through Groovy's final days. We greatly appreciated the daily calls and texts our family received each day. Thank you, everybody, for helping us through this. Groovy was a very lucky lady to have such phenomenal people around her until the end. She went peacefully and softly, surrounded by her family. 

Groovy, we were so lucky to have you as our Mom, our Grandma, our Great Grandma, our friend, and our confidant. We miss you dearly. "See ya later, alligator!"

Joyce was predeceased by her father, Harry Austin, and mother, Alice Austin, and her husband, Bernie Lindburg; they are once again reunited. She is survived by her son, Ron (Maija) Lindburg, her daughter Karen (Matt) Person, her granddaughter, Valan (Tim) Pearse, her grandson Matt (Amy Lou) Person and two beautiful great-grandchildren, Ryatt and Jensyn Pearse. She is also survived by her loving brother, Robert (Ada) Austin, and numerous nieces and nephews on both the Austin and Lindburg sides. Private services will be held at a future date.
