With heavy hearts, we commemorate the life and legacy of Joyln A. Stotts (Howe), whose remarkable journey began on March 16, 1941, in Boulder, Colorado, and came to a close on July 25, 2026.

Joyln was born and raised in the vibrant foothills of Boulder, where her spirited nature became evident from a young age. A proud graduate of Boulder High School, she quickly distinguished herself as an avid barrel racer, ultimately being crowned Pow Wow Queen for the Boulder County Fair and Rodeo—a source of lasting pride and cherished memories for her and all who knew her. Her passion for adventure and learning led her to Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado, where she would embark on yet another exciting chapter. It was there that Joyln met Ross Stotts, and together they built the foundation of their family and future. Their early years unfolded in Texas, Ross' home state, a place where Joyln offered steadfast support as he completed his schooling and they began raising their family with love and devotion.

Life's currents later brought Joyln to Wyoming, where she established deep roots and enduring friendships. Professionally, she dedicated several years of service to the Fremont County Assessors, before taking on a new role with the State of Wyoming. Joyln’s commitment and integrity were evident throughout her career, culminating in a well-earned retirement. She will be warmly remembered by colleagues for her diligence, kindness, and her unwavering spirit.

Outside her professional life, Joyln found joy and peace in simpler, enduring pleasures. She loved the outdoors, especially the solace of her garden. Nurturing flowers and greenery under wide open Wyoming skies brought her immense satisfaction, but it was time spent with her family that truly brightened her days. Her home was always a hub of warmth, laughter, and togetherness, where stories unfurled and memories were woven.

Joyln’s legacy lives on in her beloved family. She is survived by her son, Marcus Stotts, and her grandchildren: Samuel Haivala, Annika Haivala, Ashley Osterman, Tyler Stotts, Erin Schill, and Jasper Stotts. Her spirit endures in her great-grandchildren Noah, Michael, Kailer, Bella, Jaxson, Paisley, Scarlet, Nile, Zephyr, Ruby, Lennox, and Zhuri, each a testament to the love and strength she imparted to her family. Joyln now joins those who preceded her in rest: her father, Jack Major Henry Howe; her mother, Jean Howe; her sisters, Sharon White and Judy Bell; and her son, Michael Stotts, each of whom shaped her life and to whom she gave so much of her heart.

In reflecting on Joyln’s life, those who knew her speak of courage, resilience, and a generous heart. From the sunlit arenas of her youth to the quiet beauty of her later years, Joyln approached each new phase with grace and gratitude. Her influence continues—rooted and blooming, just like her cherished garden—in the lives of those who survive her.

Service arrangements celebrating Joyln's life will be shared with friends and loved ones. As we remember her, may we honor her legacy through the love we show to one another and the memories we keep close.
