Laura Laverne Armstrong, a cherished mother, friend, and remarkable soul, passed away on May 6th, 2025, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, at the age of 98. Born on March 9, 1927, in Wirt, New York, she brought warmth and kindness into the lives of all who knew her.
Laura lived by her simple faith in God and her unwavering commitment to living by her own version of the Golden Rule: "Do for others regardless of what may be done for you."
A devoted mother, Laura found profound joy in the accomplishments of her children: Richard Armstrong, Mary Archer, and Jim Armstrong. Her pride was not measured by personal accolades but rather by the successes of those she loved.
Laura's passion for reading was one of the hallmarks of her life. She read every book she could get her hands on, creating a growing pile of treasured stories that she would share with others, passing the gift of literature like small treasures. Her son Jim recalls so many mornings during his second grade sitting next to her reading "Lassie Lost in the Snow" and "Mousekin's Golden House", and "The Outsiders" (the one about a family of skunks).
In addition to her family, Laura had close friends, including her "church ladies" group and Jan Pederson, whose companionship she counted among the blessings in her life. Her kindness extended to everyone around her, and her smile brightened the day of any friend or caretaker who crossed her path. She expressed only gratitude to those who cared for her, embodying the essence of humility and grace.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William B Armstrong, who passed in 1997 and whom she has missed every day since.
As we remember Laura Laverne Armstrong, we will hold dearly her quiet love, her unwavering faith, and her endless capacity for kindness. She leaves behind a legacy that exemplifies the beauty of selflessness and the importance of nurturing connections, making her departure felt deeply by all who had the privilege to know her.
