A Funeral Liturgy was held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2010 at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Father Gary J. Ruzicka celebrating. Celie and C.B. will be interred together at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas at a later date. Lucille (Celie) Stroud went to join her heavenly Fly-Boy on March 29, 2010. She was born in Fredericksburg, Texas on a hot summer day the 28th day of June, 1919. Her parents Louis and Marie (Nee) Keller Stieler preceded her in death. She has two siblings Ernest Steiler and Genevieve Huxoll. She spent her early years in the Texas hill country. She later moved to San Antonio where she met her future husband Conley B. Stroud, Jr. They were married during WWII in Victorville, California. Celie and CB had tow children from this terrific union, Jolynn (Stroud) Puff and Conley B. Stroud, III. Together they had a wonderful 30 year career in the Air Force. They lived overseas and in many states in the continental U.S. Their final retirement was in Cheyenne, Wyoming, a place they both adored. Celie’s main interests were her great friends, golf and very competitive bridge! Celie’s last days were spent at Life Care Center of Cheyenne, being cared for by a loving staff. She also had a constant companion and amazing listener, Shani Anderson, who made her last days fantastic. Her survivors include her daughter, Jolynn and her husband Bob; her son Conley B. Stroud, III; three granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren. Celie had many people who helped her greatly after her husband’s death. Mike and Judy Sullivan and Charlene Nation provided strength and encouragement when she needed it the most.
