Cheyenne

Marjorie V. Weitkamp, known affectionately as Marge, was born on April 21, 1933, in Powell, Wyoming, and departed this life peacefully on April 12, 2025, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. A bright spirit, she touched the lives of many during her remarkable 91 years on this earth.

Marge dedicated a significant portion of her life to serving the State of Wyoming in the Lands Division, where she worked diligently from 1988 until her retirement at the impressive age of 82. Not one to slow down, she continued to embody the spirit of hard work and perseverance throughout her life. Her legendary cucumber sandwiches were a highlight during food days at work, bringing joy and deliciousness to all who had the pleasure of tasting them. Marge was always busy, whether she was honing her skills at jigsaw puzzles, experimenting with new recipes during holiday meals, or sharing good advice with anyone in need. Her concern for others, combined with her warm personality, made her a true sweetheart and a cherished friend to many.

A proud graduate of Powell High School, Marge furthered her education with a course in Bookkeeping and Accounting at Billings Business College in Montana. Her journey was one marked by determination, and despite the challenges she faced, including cancer and a stroke that limited some of her activities, Marge maintained a remarkably positive attitude. She was small in stature but large in spirit, embodying a determined and stubborn nature that undoubtedly helped her prevail through life's trials.

Marge’s love for traveling was evident in her adventures with her sister and cousin, including a memorable cruise through Alaska's Inside Passage. Sports also held a special place in her heart, particularly her unwavering support for the Wyoming Cowboys, Denver Broncos, and Buffalo Bills, with a notable admiration for Josh Allen. Bowling was another passion of hers; she actively participated in several Cheyenne leagues and tournaments and even earned medals in the Senior Olympics, which stood as a testament to her competitive spirit and sheer joy for the game. Many would see Marge light up and walk briskly to work at the Herschler building, a daily ritual that kept her connected to her community.

Surrounded by her Work Sisters, Marge passed away at Aspen Winds Assisted Living Center after a short illness, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience. She is survived by her beloved nephews and niece: Daniel Kaiser (Julie) and Ronald Kaiser of Cheyenne, Robin Kaiser of Las Vegas, NV, Kim Jones (Joe) of Chattanooga, TN, and Douglas Kaiser (Denise) of Pflugerville, TX and numerous grand nieces and nephews, and their children. When questioned about her marital status, Marge would smile and say she never married, therefore she made some man very happy.

Marge will be remembered for her spirit, her laughter, and the abundant love she shared with those around her. She has been reunited with her parents, Herman and Ada (Kittle) Weitkamp, and her sister, Edna Kaiser, and niece in law Debbie Kaiser. As we celebrate her life, we hold dear the memories of the impact she made and the warmth she brought to our lives. Rest in peace, dear Marge; your legacy of love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew you.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 14th, at Uncle Charlie's, 1-4PM.
