Marvin A. Senne

March 30, 1941 — August 17, 2025

Cheyenne

Marvin A. Senne passed away at 84 years old, surrounded by his family on August 17th, 2025. He will be remembered by his ready smile, easy chuckle, immediate warmth, and his gentle and generous heart. He was a very special man to many and loved beyond measure.

Marvin was born and raised in northern Montana. He later made his way to Butte to attend Montana Technical University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering. It was in Butte where he met and married Marie. Together they journeyed following Marvin’s career in minerals (copper and coal), to Arizona, to Anaconda, to Denver, to West Virginia, and finally finishing his career at the Black Thunder Coal Mine in Wright, Wyoming, after 35 years with the company. Following retirement for both, Marvin and Marie moved to Cheyenne.

Through all these years, Marvin was devoted to his family. As a husband, he and Marie were inseparable for 62 years. As a father, he was a dedicated fan, attending all sporting events, even when he had to take time from work and drive all over Wyoming. As a grandfather, he was always there for his grandchildren. He endured soccer games in Wyoming with freezing wind and sleet, and he sat at chess tournaments waiting for the player to return from chess matches. He always made the grandchildren their hot chocolate and toast in the mornings during the many summer days the grandchildren spent at his house. He did all he could to care for his family in every way. The family had no doubt they were valued and loved by him.

In retirement, Marvin and Marie volunteered and participated at the Cheyenne Senior Center on a daily basis for 15 years. He was the happy ticket taker, always with a smile and greeting for all. Marvin and Marie found a cherished community of friends through their time at the Senior Center.

Marvin is survived by his wife Marie of 62 years, their daughter Lisa Wallace, and their grandchildren, Isabel, Oliver, and Chester Wallace. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christy Senne.

He will be deeply missed by all.
