Mary Faye Lindsey, age 95, died January 20th 2026, in her longtime hometown of Cheyenne, Wyoming, in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones.
Born October 14th 1930, Mary was born in Altoona, Kansas, the 3rd of 4 children of Ray Carter and Bessie Kepley Carter. The family lived on and worked a farm in a small community. At 16, Mary moved away from home to Chanute, KS to continue her schooling and get her high school diploma. At 19, Mary met and fell in love with Charles “Chuck” Eugene Lindsey and after a long-distance courtship while Chuck trained in the Airforce, they were married in 1950. They welcomed daughters Susan in 1951 and Sunny in 1955. While enlisted in the Airforce, the family lived in Kansas, Texas, Japan, South Carolina, Mississippi, Arkansas and retired in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Mary was a licensed beautician and was the owner of Milady beauty salon in Cheyenne, she also worked at Best department stores for many years. She raised her daughters and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a gifted cook and crafter – specialties included sewing, knitting and cross stitching. During their retired years, Mary and Chuck travelled throughout the United States and spent several winters in Arizona. They also spent time on their daily walks around the park or mall followed by coffee with friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Everett and Troy Carter and sister Lila Follmer, as well as her beloved husband Chuck Lindsey and son-in-law’s Doug Hughes and Dale Reiber. She is survived by her daughters Susan Hughes and Sunny Reiber of Cheyenne; 4 Grandchildren, Jeff Lindsey (Jenny) of Highlands Ranch, CO, Conor McCoy of Cheyenne, Bailey Clunis (Kit) of Fort Collins, CO and Jacob Reiber (Stacey) of Cheyenne, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life, to honor Mary, is scheduled for March 6, 2026, from 4 to 7, in the Barn at Cheyenne Hills. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you make a donation in Mary’s name to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital (St. Jude's) or a charity of your choice.
