Michael Rustin Shaw, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away on July 21, 2026, in Cheyenne. He was born on September 10th, 1983.

Mike grew up in Cheyenne. In his youth he loved spending time with his family, camping, snowboarding, snowmachining, skateboarding with the boys and hanging out with his friends, making lifelong memories and friendships. The bond he had with his brother and sister was unmatched. He took an interest in music, in every form, from piano, to DJing, to music production. He had a natural God given talent that would later turn into his passion and ultimately his career. Through high school Mike became involved in cheerleading and had the opportunity to go to UW with his abilities to cheer collegiately.

While at the University of Wyoming Mike obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Communications. During his time in Laramie his love for music grew. He was able to release a collaborative album with 2 friends called Neoclassic in 2008. He also sharpened his skills at the Buckhorn DJing music for the crowds. You could always find him with a pair of headphones, sitting behind his turntables. While in Laramie he met his wife to be, Toni. Their love grew before the next big adventure, Los Angeles.

After graduating Mike followed his passion to the Los Angeles Recording School to pursue his second degree. With the unwavering support of his Mother and Father, he moved to Hollywood, CA to reach for the stars and pursue his dream. He graduated 2nd in his class from audio school. God had bigger plans when Mike and Toni had their first daughter in 2011. It was in that moment, Mike’s dreams shifted slightly. Emjae was the apple of his eye, and his heart had another passion now, building his own family. They continued to stay in California building his resume and sharpening his skills before moving to Denver in 2012 to be closer to the ones they love.

Shortly after their move to Denver Mike served as Head of Production at Dynamite Laser Beam, where he was also an exceptionally talented music producer and sound designer. With an extraordinary ear for music and a remarkable creative instinct, he helped shape the sound of campaigns for many of the worlds most recognized brands and entertainment companies including Apple, Nike, Microsoft, Amazon, Disney, HBO, Warner Brothers, and many others. Throughout his career, Mike created hundreds of original pieces of music and sound design, helping bring stories to life through audio. His work reached audiences around the world and contributed to creative campaigns for the most iconic brands of our time. He was deeply dedicated to his craft and took great pride in making every project as impactful as it could be. And in 2014 his heart grew twice the size when their second daughter, Estelle, graced this world.

In 2015 Mike and Toni tied the knot in Cancun, Mexico, with their toes in the sand. The love they shared was visible to everyone who was around them. He was the most dedicated, loving, and kind husband and father. At his core, he was a family man. He loved kids and making his house a home where everyone is welcome. His girls were his pride and joy. He loved the three of them with every ounce of his being, and he was the center of their world as well. His gentle heart made him the perfect girl dad.

In 2018 their family moved to Cheyenne to raise their daughters in God’s country. They wanted their children to be raised in a smaller community where they could flourish academically and be closer to family and friends. During that time, they loved to go camping and connect with family and nature. They made memories traveling with their girls to Disneyland, Huntington Beach, Sea World, Northern California, Montana, Colorado and many more.

One thing about Mike, you couldn’t put him in one group of friends; he was friends with everyone. You couldn’t tag him with one talent; he was a man of many. You couldn’t put him in a box; his spirit was too big for that. If you were around Mike, you were getting a hug, a joke, and probably a piece of wisdom or advice. Everyone who knew him, loved him.

Michael is survived by his wife Toni Shaw, daughter Emjae Shaw, daughter Estelle Shaw, Father Philip Shaw, Mother Dianna Shaw, brother Philip Shaw, sister Katie Shaw, Grandmother Adeline Saxby, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his Grandfather Homer Shaw, Grandmother Dorothy Shaw, and Grandfather Donald Saxby.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 15th, 2026 at The Little America Hotel and Resort in the Wyoming Room. There will be a service from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM and a reception to follow from 2:00 PM-4:00 Pm.
