Mildred Virginia Gade

Mildred Virginia Kruse was born on January 12, 1928, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, the youngest of ten children. She passes away at Granite Rehabilitation Center in Cheyenne, on April 9,2025 at the age of 97.

She graduated from Gothenburg High School. While working as a telephone operator in Sidney, Nebraska, she met Luverne Gade. They were married on September 25, 1948, and remained so for 66 years.

Luverne and Mildred lived in Bushnell, Nebraska, before moving to Pine Bluffs. For over 20 years, they managed the Wild Horse Truck Stop and Café. They subsequently purchased the Travellyn Motel and worked there until they retired. Mildred also worked part time at the Pine Bluffs Rest Area. She was an active member of the Grace English Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her four children: Renae Corn, Carolyn (Darryl) DeMara, Daryl (Kristie) Gade, and Marlene (Jim) Svenkesen, 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded by Luverne and grandchildren Matt DeMara and Kelly Bauer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined.
