A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins, Colorado, at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 16, 2010. Cremation has taken place at Schrader’s Sunset Park Crematory. Nancy Loomans Rasmussen,75, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, formerly of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, unexpectedly, as the result of an injury sustained at her home. Nancy was born January 2, 1935, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the oldest of three children of Ward and Charlotte (Conlee) Rasmussen. She married Kenneth Loomans on June 13, 1953, in Waupun, Wisconsin, and they lived in several states while raising their family. They had four children, three grandchildren and a great-grandson. They divorced in 1981. Nancy was a strong mother, who in difficult circumstances nurtured four very different and wonderful children who loved her. Nancy retired from Colorado State University after 18 years of employment. She was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins and of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Nancy loved spending time with her family and many, many friends. She loved to travel and her favorite place to be was in the Rocky Mountains. The day before the accident she and her daughter spent time in Estes Park, enjoying the beautiful golden aspen trees and the different shades of blue of the Rocky Mountains. Nancy is survived by her children, daughter Donna (Neill Peterson) Loomans, of Belfast, Maine, son Leonard (Kim Russell) of Cape Neddick, Maine, daughter Lana Mapes, of Jackson, Mississippi, and daughter Heidi Loomans (Mike) King, of Cheyenne. Granddaughter, Anna Mapes, two grandsons, Philip Loomans and Theo Loomans Russell, and one great-grandson Hayden Loomans. She is also survived by her sister, Gail Pardi, of Longmont, Colorado, several nieces, one nephew, a former son-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. These people, in addition to her many friends, were the focus of her life, and she always had time for everyone. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ward and Charlotte Rasmussen, and her brother, Robert Rasmussen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1709 West Elizabeth, Fort Collins, CO 80521.
