Obituary

Pauline Mead, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, teacher, and friend, passed away at her home in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in May 2026 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 66.

Pauline was born April 24, 1960, in Payson, Utah, to Paul Holt and Carolyn Holt. From the beginning, Pauline’s life was marked by steady faith, quiet strength, and a generous heart—qualities that would bless her family and all who knew her throughout her life.

In 1979, Pauline married her high-school sweetheart, Clyde Mead, in the Salt Lake Temple. Their marriage was a partnership built on devotion, humor, and unwavering commitment. Together they made their home in eight different cities across Utah and Wyoming, creating a life centered on the gospel, hard work, and deep love for family. They raised six children and built a home where others felt welcome, supported, and known.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life, Pauline served diligently in many callings and roles. Of all her service, she especially treasured teaching seminary. Pauline had a deep love for studying and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, for ministering to those in need, and for strengthening others through quiet, consistent kindness.

Pauline found joy in simple, meaningful things—walking and hiking, being outdoors with her family, and sharing meals and time together. She was a talented pianist and a gifted teacher. She also wore many hats over the years, including cook, property manager, and gardener, bringing care and excellence to everything she did. She loved being with Clyde and cheering on her children and grandchildren in marching band, sports, and countless other activities. And though she might not have admitted it, she even grew fond of her husband’s German Wirehaired Pointers.

Pauline is preceded in death by her father, Paul Holt.

She is survived by her sweetheart of 49 years (2 years in high-school and 47 years married), Clyde Mead; her six children, Daniel, Hal, Kevin, David, Joseph, and Jennel; twenty grandchildren; her mother, Carolyn Holt; and her five siblings, Donna, Kathleen, Fred, Alan, and Keith.

Pauline’s life was a testament of faith, love, and service. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
