Polly Kay Gomez

Polly K. Gomez, née Petty, passed away peacefully at Davis Hospice in Cheyenne on January 8th, 2026, with family at bedside. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 7, 1934 to Hiram and Katherine Petty. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Rudolph Gomez; sister Lucy Lynn Bush; nephews Mark Bush and John Woodbury. She leaves behind her daughter, Jennifer Grace Gomez (and wife Sherry); son Clay Petty Gomez; daughter-in-law Irene Margaret MacLean; and cherished granddaughters Rebekah Leigh Gomez and Sarah Katherine Gomez. Additionally, she leaves behind sister-in-law Marty Gomez and a number of nieces and nephews: Stacey Bush, Greg Gomez, Kent Gomez, Rebecca Peterson, Glen Woodbury, Diane Smith, and Terry and Darlene Jennings. She was cared for lovingly and closely in her final years by nieces Shelly Woodbury, Susan Woodbury and nephew David Woodbury, all of Cheyenne. She also leaves behind many dear friends and acquaintances at Primrose Retirement Community.

Polly was a homemaker and elementary school teacher in Texas for many years, relocating to Cheyenne on the occasion of both her and Rudy’s retirement, in order to be closer to their granddaughters. She will be missed by friends and family, near and far. At Polly’s request, no services are planned. She will be cremated and her ashes scattered “somewhere pretty,” as per her wishes.
