Rawley Dean Marrs, affectionately known as Dean, passed away peacefully at home with his family on April 17, 2026. Born on April 25, 1936, in Wood River, Nebraska, Dean lived a life marked by dedication, resilience, and a heartfelt connection to those around him.

Dean's journey began with a youthful enthusiasm for learning and growth. Graduating from North Platte High School at the age of sixteen, he pursued vocational training that would lay a foundation for a long and distinguished career with the Union Pacific Railroad. Over five decades, Dean held numerous positions, culminating in his retirement as a train engineer in the year 2000. His commitment to his work was unwavering, and his professional tenure stands as a testament to his reliability and skill.

Beyond his career, Dean answered the call of duty when he was drafted into the United States Army in 1958. Trained in Heavy Weapons Infantry, he honorably served until 1964, including a year stationed in Korea. This period of service reflected his steadfast dedication to his country, and he carried the values learned during this time throughout his life.

Dean was known for his vibrant personality—he never met a stranger and was favored by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. His passion for motorcycles was not only a personal hobby but a family affair. He spent his spare time selling, tuning, or attending motorcycle races, whether cheering on his sons or enjoying his own rides. This enthusiasm brought joy and camaraderie to those close to him and highlighted his generous spirit and zest for life.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 61 years, Donella, who stood by his side through all of life's seasons. Their family includes their sons Jerry and Richard, and Richard’s son Damian. Also cherished are his significant other Talla and her son Joseph Archuleta, who enriched his life with their companionship and love. Dean’s brother, Graig Marrs, along with numerous nieces and nephews, also survive him and carry forward his memory.

Dean was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Marrs, and mother, Gladys Senseney. He also mourns the loss of his brother-in-law Charles Moore, sister Norma Moore, and sister-in-law Nola Marrs, whose memories remain a part of his enduring legacy.
