Rodney Lee Sharpe, 74, passed away peacefully at Aspen Winds Memory Care in Cheyenne, Wyoming on April 27, 2025 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Rodney was born in Wynnewood, Oklahoma on February 25, 1951 to Glyn and Mary Lou Sharpe. He married his wife, Janet Goertz-Sharpe on July 10, 2004.
Rodney's life was spent farming and raising Angus cattle and could often be heard saying "There's nothing prettier than black cows on green grass." His favorite things were his children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and a multitude of "adoptees" who became a part of his extended family and friends. Rodney was also active in the Hillsdale United Methodist Church for many years, working with the youth and acting as Lay Leader.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Glyn and Mary Lou Sharpe, brother Steve Sharpe, and Steve's wife Josie and son Robbie, Connie Jo Sharpe (daughter-in-law), and Adam Coufal (step-grandson). Rodney is survived by his wife Janet Goertz-Sharpe, brother Jim Sharpe (Eileen), son Aaron Sharpe (Andi), daughter Jadin Turvey (Craig), and stepchildren Justin Schroader, Josh Koske (Sandra), Jillian Thompson (Nick), Gayle Cooper (Derek), Laura Michael (Dan Slick) and David Michael (Avis Bailey) and niece Colleen. He is also survived by grandchildren Samuel Sharpe (Brooke Wagner), Emory Turvey, Emerald Turvey, Ellie Koster, Maximus Koske, Aria Koske, Isla Thompson, Nathaniel Thompson, Tate Kerchal, and Kelli Kerchal (Clancy Goggin) along with many others he "adopted" through his refereeing, church youth groups, and farm helpers.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hillsdale United Methodist Church later this summer, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Hillsdale United Methodist Church.
