Rose Elizabeth Krysl, age 92 of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed from this life on Monday, February 17, 2026. The oldest of three children, Rose was born on the family farm near Cornlea, Nebraska on March 13, 1933 to Alphonse and Mary (Malin) Lohaus. She is preceded in death by her husband Larry, her parents and her sister Margaret (Tony Carnazzo). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Rose grew up on the family farm and graduated in 1951 from St. Francis Catholic High School in nearby Humphrey. After graduation she attended the Nebraska State Teachers College in Wayne and taught in rural schools. She met her husband Larry Krysl while in college and they were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cornlea on August 9, 1955. After living in Alaska for Larry’s U.S. Army service, the couple returned to Nebraska so Larry could finish his teaching degree. There they started their family where their two oldest children Terry and Marilyn were born. In 1958 the family moved to Laramie, WY where Larry finished his master’s degree. Their third child Owen was born in Laramie in 1959. The Krysl family moved to Rawlins, Wyoming in 1959 where Larry taught at Rawlins High School and their children Loran, Alan, Carolyn and Jerry were born.

Rose worked for the City of Rawlins Water Department and later worked as a comptroller at Memorial Hospital of Carbon County. Rose was later employed by the Wise Insurance Agency and later owned and operated the Rose Krysl Farmers Insurance Agency. She was in the Toppers Club which recognized the top 10% of Farmers insurance agents. She was active for many years in the Business & Professional Women’s Foundation and Beta Sigma Phi.

Outside of work, Rose’s life was centered around raising family and church. She facilitated her children’s participation in various activities. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rawlins. Rose enjoyed photography and making photo albums of her travels with Larry. They also enjoyed their family times at the family Snowy Range cabin. Larry and Rose moved to Cheyenne, WY in 2006. She enjoyed water aerobics and supporting her grandchildren’s sports and music activities. Rose and Larry were married for 66 years until Larry passed in 2022.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Cottonwood Creek Memory Care Unit and Eden Hospice for their loving, compassionate care of Rose in her final years. Appreciation is also extended to the priests and Catholic laity of the Cheyenne Catholic parishes for their gifting of the sacraments of the Catholic faith during this time.
